Welcome to another Weekend Read post. My featured book this week is It’s Me You’re Looking For by romance author Elise Kenny. Elise has dropped by today to tell us a bit about herself and the book. So grab yourself a cuppa, get cosy and let’s get chatting to Elise.

Blurb

  • Two co-workers.
  • Answering 36 Questions anonymously via email.
  • But can it really lead to love?

Monica Roche wants to change her life. Taking the first steps, she decides to anonymously email a co-worker asking them to answer the 36 questions test.

Receiving the email, Samson Okiro’s first impulse is to delete it. Since his life changed drastically after a car crash two years before, he’s struggled to move on, but on an uncharacteristic whim, he decides to give it a go.

With neither knowing who’s on the other end of the emails, they can be new people. Yet as the emails fly, Samson and Monica meet in real life. But can their email aliases ever match up to what’s standing in front of them?

A book about grief, friendship and rediscovering love.

Trigger warnings: baby loss, death of a spouse, detail of a car accident, one instance of domestic abuse, bereavement.

Welcome to my blog, Elise. Have you always wanted to be a writer?

I think so, yes. I loved writing stories at primary school and I’d spend so long doing it. I think it took me a while to realise you could actually write a whole book and have it published but it was a big goal of mine from very young!

What do you like writing most?

I love when I’m so invested in the characters that I started to get emotional as I write!

Are you a pantster or a plotter?

I wish I was a plotter but I’m more of a pantster. Saying that, I do sometimes have to plot out the timeline after a while because otherwise none of it would make sense! I do write out of order generally but then connect the dots after and that can help with thinking about what’s missing.

What inspired you to write this book?

I think one of my favourite romance films of all time is You’ve Got Mail so when I read about the 36 Questions Test, I ended up combining those ideas. I love a good anonymous love story where it turns out they do know each other!
