Delighted to have you on my blog today, Amanda. Can you tell us about your writing journey.
Thank you for inviting me, Karen. From a young age I loved making up stories for my younger sister. We had bunk beds as children, and my words would help her drift off to sleep. Later I loved writing stories in English lessons at school, but it was many years later, following a serious car crash – one of those catalytic moments – that I decided to try my hand at writing seriously. I took a creative writing course and subbed my first story to My Weekly. They bought it. I was over the moon. So excited, in fact, my husband thought we’d won the lottery.
Inspired, I continued to write short stories and sold over 200 globally, before turning my hand to novels, writing HER LAST LIE. At the time my younger sister had terminal cancer, and I dreamed of donating my royalties to Cancer Research if it was published. I sent the novel to HQ. It was picked up and they called me that week saying they wanted to publish it. It has so far raised £9000 from my eBook royalties and continues to sell.
I recently signed a four-book deal with the wonderful Boldwood Books. NOW YOU ARE MINE was published in Sept 2024, and LET ME OUT is out in June 2025, and available to pre-order now.
My other twisty thrillers include THE ISLAND HOUSE, TRACES OF HER, I LIE IN WAIT, TELL THE TRUTH and I’M WATCHING YOU. And I have three co-written three psychological suspense novels with the Karen Clarke.
I still have to pinch myself that readers enjoy my books, and I’m so grateful when I receive a lovely review, or a message from a happy reader.
